SOS FIRE multiplier event held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

On 28 September 2021 the multiplier event of SOS FIRE was held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Due to the requirements to comply with the measures against the spread of COVID-19, only 1/3 of the applicants were able to physically attend the event. Due to the great interest in the training materials, the event was broadcasted live on the project’s Facebook page .

Maria Goranova, Chairperson of the Board of NARHU, made an official opening and presented the activities and services of NARHU, emphasizing on the set of interesting teaching materials and resources that are useful to teachers and their students. The program continued with detailed presentations of the SOS FIRE project and its 3 intellectual outputs.

In the second part, the guest speaker Georgi Vlaykov from “Emergency Rescue Plovdiv” and his team made a demonstration of first aid and evacuation in case of fire. At the end of the event, the possibilities for sustainable use of the training materials after the end of the SOS FIRE project were also discussed with the audience.

Teachers and school principals shared that practical trainings on such topics are extremely useful and necessary for both teachers and their students, as they are usually conducted in Bulgaria according to preliminary planned schedule and so the real readiness of schools to respond timely and adequatly in case of fire cannot be established. Therefore, participants agreed that training materials and demonstrations, such as those developed under the SOS FIRE project, are important to increase the capacity of schools to respond properly to fire, burns and other emergencies.

A day after the event, the NARHU team received many new requests from school principals from North and South Bulgaria for more trainings and demonstrations, which is an objective indicator for the success of the event. All presentations (in Bulgarian) can be downloaded from here
